Yuletide Letter

Dear Yuletide writer,
First, thank you! I'll be happy to see new fic for any of these fandoms, about pretty much anything that is not explicitly invoked in my do not wants. These fandoms all speak to something I love. ODAO, character requests should be considered "OR" not "AND".
Stuff I Like: people working together to overcome obstacles, snark and snappy dialogue, banter, darkfic, place as character, postapocalyptic, N Times Characters Did A Thing. Worldbuiling. I have a bulletproof love of competence, including competence at being villainous, and characters finding connections and trusting each other. Add "in bed" to any of this for great shippy times. If crossovers and fusions are your things, bless you, writer. Crossovers and fusions are a joy to me.
Do Not Wants: PWP, bloodplay, coffeeshop AU, high school/college AU, explicit descriptions of sexual assault, cross-generation (May-December) ships, cheating and/or infidelity, violence much more intense than canon-typical levels.
Shippiness is okay, and background pairings, whether F/F, F/M, M/M, are all excellent options. OT3 is one of my favorite solutions to love triangles.
That's it, that's the letter. Everything else is fandom-specific prompting. If you have an idea, go forth, write. If you're looking for ideas, read on.
Parable Series - Octavia E. Butler
Lauren Olamina
The Parable series fascinates me as dystopia near-future and as a story of oppression and resistance. Lauren Olamina struggles with her calling to found Earthseed, to survive in a world stacked against woman, and nonwhites, and nonwhite women, and to conceal her hyperempathy. Olamina is so aware of presentation, I think outsider PoV would be awesome. Does Larkin / Asha Vere have more to say about her difficult relationship with her mother? How did Olamina come to settle her suit against Christian America and give up the search for her daughter? What do the members of Acorn think about Olamina's decisions during the Acorn years? Do they have strong feelings about her later choices in developing Earthseed?
Sense8 (TV)
Sun Bak, Kala Dandekar, Nomi Marks
So what happens next? Where are the sensates after s1? Or, what about some missing moments between Kala and Sun, trapped by their sense of family obligation, and Nomi, who has found a new family? ...or there could be a femslashy fix-it of the lack of girls in that episode 6 sex scene, I'd be fine with a thousand words of that, too. This is an exception to my PWP Do Not Want.
Steerswoman Series - Rosemary Kirstein
Bel, Reeder, Rowan, Willam
I love the tension between the fantasy frame and the science fiction underpinnings of this series. I really love Rowan and Willam sneaking off to kill dragons under the pretext of a romantic interlude, and their mutual goodwill and humor about their lack of chemistry. If Rowan and Wil want to spend all night in a library - or a lab - they probably really will spend all night arguing about math! I would love another one night stand of math and wizardry and good steerswoman technique, like The Language of Power, or various characters' reactions to said actual doing of science. I think Reeder's tension with Rowan would make for a good story, and I think Bel and Willam have unfinished business that might need to be addressed. Or 1,000 words of Bel and Rowan hanging out. Perhaps Bel tells Rowan an Outskirter oral history while they're on their trip to the fallen Guidestar?
Valdemar Series - Mercedes Lackey
Kethry, Tarma shena Tale'sedrin
Lackey's short stories and novels about this pair are one of my favorite things about Velgarth. Tarma and Kethry fill a need in swashbuckling sword and sorcery, female counterparts to the mostly male protagonists of the '80s (and earlier) and also poking fun at the tropes of that subgenre. Buuuuut not all of this has always aged well? I would be fine with a story that fixes something about Velgarth canon that's bugged you. Or a story about Kethry as a mom, or how Kerowyn's mother decided on the more conventional life and how Kethry and Tarma reacted. Basically, I love their friendship, I love that they're each other's family, I love that they work hard to achieve their goals and help each other. I would love a fic that celebrates that, in any form.
