Creepy story about Kady, Marina, and Julia; possession, lust, and death, all twisted together. Kady perspective, good focus on her relationships with other women (Penny gets a very, very brief mention).
Aveline gets roped into one of Hawke's projects, because Varric doesn't have a crush on f!Hawke at all, cough, and gets another "only in Kirkwall" memory out of it. Great Merrill, A+ Aveline, classic Varric. The action sequence with the skeletons is really good.
A++ tone control! Varric tries to tell a creepy campfire story, but some people will not stop interrupting. Snark and banter, with good characterization all around.
