Dear Trick or Treat writer,

Thanks so much for writing for me! I will be thrilled to receive a story in any of these canons, so please don't read too much into the prompt lengths. If you already have an idea you're fired up to write, please get started! Finding out what other people love about a canon is one of the things I like about fandom. Happy trick or treating!

Stuff I Like: people working together to overcome obstacles, snark and snappy dialogue, banter, darkfic, place as character, postapocalyptic, N Times Characters Did A Thing. Solving love triangles with OT3s. Worldbuiling. Food descriptions! I have a bulletproof love of competence, including competence at being villainous, and characters finding connections and trusting each other. If crossovers and fusions are your things, go for it - I am a fan.

Do Not Wants: PWP, bloodplay, coffeeshop AU, high school/college AU, explicit descriptions of sexual assault, cross-generation (May-December) ships, cheating and/or infidelity, violence much more intense than canon-typical levels.

Gen or Shippy? Add "in bed" to any of the likes and no not wants and ship away. I am in favor of consenting adults enjoying each others' company and quirks (and kinks).

Alliance-Union - C. J. Cherryh (Allison Reilly, Elene Quen, Madelaine Neihart, Meg Kady, Sal Aboujib, Signy Mallory): This is a fandom that seems pretty supernatural-resistant to me, but an awesome fandom for people scaring each other with stories about the supernatural. Just the day to day of life in space, where you could die a nasty death from one ill-placed bit of rock, or one bad environmental seal, could be creepy enough, in the right circumstances. Encounters with aliens who think really differently than humans also could evoke the darker side of the exchange. Ghost stories might also be appropriate, many of these characters have made choices, or lost people, that might haunt them in memory. (Dessa's "Call Off Your Ghost" works best for shippy situations, but has the sort of atmosphere that might be relevant to that idea.) The flip side of this darkness are the strong ties between characters, who risk themselves for their chosen friends and families, finding comfort in those relationships in a wide, sometimes bleak universe.

Dragon Age (Aveline Vallen, Cassandra Pentaghast, Merrill, Varric Tethras): I was hooked by a hardcore Inquisition fan, but apparently Kirkwall is my jam. The City of Chains! Of blood magic! Of Qunari invasions! What could possibly be written for this exchange theme? Vengeful ghosts of the Gallows, pushing at the Veil? Merrill and demons? Or something a little lighter - did Aveline and Cassandra meet, when Cassandra was in Kirkwall? I think they'd get on. Or, see "food". Do Our Protags have a (last) meal together? Or does Varric have some crazy story, creepy or sweet, that he's trying to sell to Cassandra (again)? Maybe the fictionalized version and the "real" story behind a Swords & Shields chapter?

Fringe (Alternate Olivia Dunham, Astrid Farnsworth, Olivia Dunham, Rachel Dunham): How about a sweet treat about the Dunham sisters? Olivia and Astrid in the non-Peter S4 timeline, exploring something creepy? Astrid and Rachel in S1? Any of these women in a solo adventure - weird experiences with the multiverse? (Or not so weird ones, I would not mind Astrid and redverse Astrid, or redverse Olivia and redverse Astrid.) Outsider/Observer PoV? I'm here for it.

The Magicians (TV series) (Julia Wicker, Kady Orloff-Diaz, Margo Hanson): So, I was going to request Margo's adventures with being a Queen of Fillory, including wacky harvest festival traditions (yeah, SGA fans, you heard that right!), or episodes with the Questing Beasts. The presence of the fairies lends itself to all sorts of weird magical tricks. There's a lot of surprises that can be pulled out of a hat (like a rabbbit, ha) when you filter Narnia and Oz through an arch 21st Century attitude and transform the result for TV. But then I thought about requesting the Best Bitches and atmospheric vignettes about Julia and Kady and magic, and shadeless!Julia, and Kady navigating the world of Brakebills and of the hedge witches. But then I asked, "why not both?" So! I am requesting either of these options. I get a bit of a Wicked Elphaba-and-Glinda vibe from Kady and Julia, partly because female friendship is so rare. And partly so I have an excuse to namecheck "Defying Gravity", in case the Les Miz interlude did not fulfil one's musical quota for this fandom.

Sense8 (Daniela Velasquez, Hernando Fuentes, Kala Dandekar, Lito Rodriguez, Rajan Rasal, Sun Bak, Wolfgang Bogdanow): The great thing about the series finale is that it wrapped up the BPO arc and left gaping chasms of emotional arc for fans to fill in. Lito coming out to Hernando and Daniela as a Sense8! I have lots of complicated feelings about how Daniela thrusts herself into Lito and Hernando's shared life, because it works out well, but Daniela... isn't very good... at respecting other people's wishes, at the beginning? Speaking of complicated, how about Kala (and Wolfgang?) getting Rajan from Confused But Loving Husband to Hunk Of Burning Love on Board With Threesomes! (Ha. Maybe Wolfgang is the sweet-covered treat for this threesome.) SUN AND MUN, I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, WRITERS. Go forth, write dark gap-fillers / missing scenes / happily ever afters.
