"Adjourn Your Asses" (The Wire)

In typical fashion I have marathoned the first two and a half seasons of The Wire. It's awesome in its multifaceted portrayal of humanity. Good and evil are seriously distorted by power, money, and heroin. Actions come back around. Minor characters reemerge. Major characters have plot-logical and compelling character arcs. The narrative investment is rewarded.
And this is only the third season.
The trouble with a competency kink is that occasionally you find yourself rooting for Omar and the Brother. They're crazy and kill people for a living, but both men are masters of their homicidal craft. Stringer Bell runs a drug ring meet by Robert's rules.
Is Stringer Bell running the drug ring meet by Robert's rules of order? He is. I am in awe.
Kima and McNulty are in my top ten work BFFs. They aren't great people, but they have amazing mid-career cop-buddy chemistry. "How come they know you're police when they hook up with you. And they know you're police when they move in. And they know you're police when they decide to start a family with you. And all that shit is just fine until one day it ain't no more. One day, it's 'You should have a regular job.' and 'You need to be home at five o'clock'."
I am also highly entertained by Carver and Herc's S2/S3 bromance, while not losing sight of some notable character flaws.
Midway though the third season, I'm transfixed by Cutty's slide back into the drug trade. It's a narrative lived by too many people - too many black men - arrested, incarcerated, and shunned by the institutions that should be helping these people establish a less precarious life post-prison.
